Hunter Douglas PowerView App Update Adds HomeKit Support to Gen 2 Hub

Hunter Douglas, an established player in the home window treatment market has long been listed on Apple’s official HomeKit product list with regards to its PowerView line of motorized window shades and blinds, but like many other announced products, did not have an official release and no details surrounding HomeKit functionality have been shared. This appears to be changing soon, with the company’s PowerView App for iOS recent update to version 2.4, first noticed by code_deigo_code on r/HomeKit suggesting that HomeKit support has been added.

Exact details have not been provided by the company, and no reports from PowerView owners has been spotted as of yet (UPDATE: HomeKit support has been confirmed by owners of the Gen 2 Hub), but regardless, this is a huge development as HomeKit has had a dearth of options available when it comes to window coverings with just Lutron’s Serena line and β€œunofficial” support from Soma. This update, along with Ikea’s recently announced lineup will provided some much needed options, but the PowerView line looks to be only available through consultations with the company or resellers which will certainly limit their potential and will come with a high price tag as this is still a niche market.
