Spotted this week by the same site that brought you the recent Ecobee camera leak, zatznotfunny, is an upcoming video doorbell from popular home security camera company Arlo. Interestingly enough, Arlo let the first mention of the upcoming device slip through a press release announcing a partnership with I-View, which is a professional monitoring service company on April 10th. The new doorbell would be Arlo’s second foray into the connected doorbell market, as the company has previously released an audio only doorbell which was designed as a companion to their camera lineup.
Details are scarce at the moment, but from the leaked image, the doorbell will look very similar to its predecessor as it sports the same color scheme and button shape. The video doorbell looks to be slightly taller than the audio doorbell, but potentially thinner, and the camera portion which sits at the top is listed as having “2MP Full HD Video“. 2-Way audio rounds out the known details so far on the camera, and important details, such as whether or not it supports our smart home platform of choice, HomeKit, have not been shared. With Arlo’s Ultra and Pro 2 HomeKit firmware update seemingly coming any day now, and combined with HomeKit’s embrace of doorbells at this years Consumer Electronics Show, certainly makes it seem like HomeKit support would be a good fit. Stay tuned for more on Arlo’s Video Doorbell as full details from the company can’t be too far off now that the cat is out of the bag.
