What’s New in the Home App in iOS/iPadOS 13.2 Beta 2?

Apple has released a new beta of iOS/iPadOS 13.2 for developers today, and the headline features include new emoji’s and the promised ability to turn Siri recordings off. The Home App also received a couple of visual tweaks, one of the navigation bar, and one that brings the accessory grouping toggle a little more into the forefront. Let’s dive into what the new update has in store for the Home App.

Refinements

Right off the bat, you will notice that the Home App’s navigation bar is now much whiter, with very little transparency. We are not sure if this was intended, but it differently gives the Home App a different feel, and makes it look overall rather unfinished. This change also extends to the top of the Home App as well, which will appear when scrolling longer lists. We certainly hope that this is a temporary thing, as it is not the most visually appealing change.

Moving over to a device setting screen for an accessory with multiple sensors, we now find that the recently added toggle for showing as a single tile has been moved up a bit, showing right underneath the “Status” option. Previously, this option was located below all the manufacturer’s information for the accessory.

Bugs & Remaining Issues

It is beginning to look like the “issue” regarding the scan card message when using the “Don’t Have a Code or Cannot Scan” function is just how things are going to be from now. This message has persisted through pretty much all of the iOS 13 betas and we will cease covering it if it makes it into the final release of iOS 13.2.

Some minor layout issues such as the cameras option in the home settings screen are still present as well.
