Aqara’s HomeKit Camera Briefly Available Today, Sells Out Quickly

Spotted today over on Gearbest, Aqara’s HomeKit enabled G2H Wi-Fi Camera made a brief appearance before promptly selling out. Aqara’s camera offering is significant for HomeKit as it will be the cheapest option around, with the RRP price listed at just $66.28, and sales, like one that GearBest had today ($55.99) will bring it even lower. Despite its low price, the camera has decent specs that match existing HomeKit cameras.

The G2H Camera looks identical to the company’s existing non-HomeKit G2 camera and it comes in two different colors, a standard white, as well as a bright yellow, which will definitely call attention to its presence. The camera is compact, measuring just 3.24 x 2.22 x 1.99 inches, but still manages to pack in 1080p HD resolution with an 180 degree field of view. Aqara’s camera also has a built-in SD card slot for local storage, IR night vision, and 2-way audio.

Unlike some of Aqara’s other products, the camera uses Wi-Fi for connectivity, allowing it to function without a hub. According to the listing, the camera is compatible with Aqara’s HomeKit app, and the Home app, potentially suggesting that it will be ready to pair with HomeKit right out of the box, which is good for those wondering about privacy concerns, but we will have to wait until we get our hands on one to confirm. If you are interested in Aqara’s camera, keep an eye on sites like Gearbest over the coming days as it may become available again soon.
